Momentum Planner

If you are a planner addict or stationery geek like myself it's probably that time of the year for you when you're wondering what planner to get for 2018. I have been in the same predicament myself over the past few weeks and if last year is anything to go by then I will no doubt end up with 3-4 different ones before the end of the year! What can I say other than I have a problem when it comes to stationery!

The kind people at Momentum Planner recently sent me one of their new 2018 planners to review on the blog and I'm so glad they did because this planner is quite simply a thing of beauty. It's also completely fitting with the style of planner I usually go for so it's a really perfect fit for me.

The Momentum Planner isn't just like any other planner, it's actually also a self development tool which encourages you to focus on your happiness and wellbeing. It helps you to discover what happiness looks like to you and helps you to lead a simple, positive and fulfilling life. I think so often we can forget about the simple things that can help us to lead a happy and more fulfilled lifestyle so being reminded of this alongside your every day commitments can really help to re-order our priorities and make more time for ourselves.

The planner itself comes with a high quality hardback spiral bound matte cover with a black and white stripes and gold dots pattern. I really love it's design because it's quite minimal but with a little touch of glitz! It's also hardwearing and will last the distance, even if you're taking it in and out a bag a lot of the time, the pages won't get dog eared.

The size of the planner is A5 and the diary view is a week spread over two pages with a full calendar month over two pages at the start of every month. This is perfect for me because I can see my month laid out in full in front of me but I then have enough space on the weekly pages to write down all of my appointments and plans. Each day is also split into three sections which you can organise into morning, afternoon and evening, and this makes viewing each daily activities much easier to see what you're doing and when at a glance. You also have a section at the end of each month for reflections and goals for the next month which is so handy! The planner ranges from January - December 2018 so it's perfect to start using in the new year.

With each planner comes a set of four bonus 'power sheets' which help you to explore how you can live a happier life every day. They include some 'top tips' on how live a more positive life, a 'get to know yourself' worksheet where you can look at your personal strengths and any areas for growth, a '2017 in review' sheet which allows you to recap on the past year and also a 2018 goal setting exercise. I love spending time on things like this because it really helps me to organise in my mind what I actually want from life and the areas I'd like to improve upon. I also just think it's really nice to take some time out for yourself to solely concentrate on you!

I think these kind of exercises are so useful, particularly when used at the start of a new year because, I don't know about you but, I am always so reflective at the end of a year and I often spend a lot of time thinking about what I want from the year ahead. Writing it all down within a planner like this just helps me to feel more organised and my goals suddenly feel more real and official which I personally find quite motivating. It's so easy to set new year resolutions and then forget about them come the second week of January but with this it feels more like long term goal setting and planning. By writing it all down in a planner you will use for the year will be like a constant reminder of where you're trying to get to and what you hope to achieve.

There is also the option to purchase a sticker bundle specifically designed to be used with this planner which includes some colour coding labels, functional icons and some motivational quotes. These are great for highlighting special events like birthdays or holidays and they also add a splash of colour to your weeks.

I would have to say that my favourite thing about this planner is the beautiful design and illustrations inside. The pages feel like such high quality paper and all of the different patterns and illustrations make it feel quite special and unique. It's way more than just a standard planner and there is so much more detail to it than any other planner I have seen in the shops. There are also some inspirational messages and quotes throughout the year which are a really nice touch and will help to keep me in a positive mindset.

At the back of the planner there are some additional pages where you are able to reflect on 2018 at the end of the year and also some functional pages for finances, travel planning and making general notes.

I have been fortunate enough to have been given a special discount code for my readers should you wish to buy your own Momentum Planner. Just enter the code THEVNICELIFE at the checkout and you will receive €4.00 (£3.50) off your order! This discount is valid until November 30th 2017 so be sure to get in quick if you'd like to take advantage of it. There is also the option to buy a set of two planners which works out slightly cheaper per planner too and is perfect if you want to buy one for yourself and one as a Christmas present for someone else. Or maybe just find someone else who wants one too and split the cost between you both!

The Momentum Planner is more expensive than what you may find in the likes of Paperchase, but I genuinely think that the price tag reflects the quality and uniqueness of this planner. I also think that it's great to support small businesses where possible and buy from independent makers like this if you can. Ultimately you end up with a beautiful and unique product that not everyone will have so it does feel more special to you.

I am already excited about writing my plans for 2018 into this planner and I can't wait for January so I can start using it properly!
