I feel like a real cliché blogger when I say I love Autumn but I really do! It's my favourite time of the year. I love that Summer is over and the anticipation of new beginnings in the air along with all of the changing colours of nature. I think everything from now until until the new year feels festive and, being my favourite time of year, I really like to make the most of everything. It's also when I feel my most creative and inspired.
This year I have decided to create an Autumn Bucket List of all the things I'd like to see and do. As the weather gets colder and indoors feels cosier it can be tempting to just stay in under the comfort of your warm fleecy blankets but I hope this inspires some of you to get out there and make the most of the new season. It will also act as a reminder to me to make the most of each and every day.
Pumpkin Picking
This was a real favourite activity of mine last Autumn and I can't wait to go again! I think there's something fun about going to a local farm to pick your own pumpkin opposed to just grabbing one at a supermarket. It's an excuse for a day out somewhere and it's also the perfect opportunity to get some great autumnal shots on your camera. Fields of pumpkins are so photogenic!
Conker Hunting
To be honest this has already started and will no doubt continue over the next few weeks. There's something so incredibly satisfying about finding and cracking open the perfect untouched conker! They also make great little props for any Autumn photos and flat lays you're planning on taking. I often use them to decorate my home with too as it's the perfect way to bring Autumn indoors.
A Trip To HomeSense
I have been holding off for as long as possible before I make a trip to my nearest HomeSense. I know they already have their Autumn and Halloween stock in as I've seen other peoples photos from inside but I really didn't want to peak too early with the excitement of it all! My plan was to hold off until we are in October so I'm probably going to make a visit this week. I've also got to really refrain from going too crazy in there as I need to remember that I love my new minimalist home and that could easily get destroyed after one trip to HomeSense!
Photographic Walks
As soon as Autumn arrives I just feel so inspired by everything and suddenly a simple walk can turn into a beautiful photoshoot. I want to be outdoors more and exploring more of the new area we live in so now is the perfect time to start walking more. My idea of a perfect Sunday would be a really long walk followed by a little nap and a yummy roast dinner.
Cook With Pumpkin
I don't put as many recipes on my blog as I would like to and that's probably due to the fact that I don't really love to cook. However, I would like to post a new vegan recipe soon and I would definitely like to try making something with pumpkin so you'll have to wait and see what I come up with. Do you have any favourite pumpkin recipes?
Give To The Trick or Treaters
As much as I love Halloween, and all the spooky activities that come with it, I have always felt a little shy when it comes to opening the door to trick or treaters. We usually just turn off all the lights and pretend we aren't home! This year I want to change that. I want to decorate the front of our house and give some treats to those little critters. Who knows, maybe we'll even dress up ourselves!
Watch A New Horror Movie
The last horror film I saw was IT at the cinema and to be honest it wasn't that scary at all. This Halloween I want to watch a really good new horror movie and actually feel the fear! For a horror film to be scary I need to find it realistic and like it could happen to me. Let me know if you have any recommendations below!
Host A Fireworks Night Party
Now we are in our new house and we have a huge garden I am so looking forward to hosting our first fireworks night party! It's one of my favourite nights of the year and it will be so nice to do our own for a change instead of going to a display somewhere else.
Visit The New Tibits In London
This doesn't really have anything to do with Autumn but I really want to make a visit to the new Tibits restaurant in London in the next few weeks. I've heard some really good things already and as it's my favourite vegan restaurant in London I am sure the new one will be another big hit with me. We've been going into London much more lately since living near a train station so this will be another good excuse to hit the city.
Book A Winter Break Away
This is the first time in a while where we haven't had a holiday booked and I am already getting itchy feet! We tend to go away for a Winter break near my birthday in December and I think this year I'd really like to go to Norway as it's a country I have never visited before. It will also be an opportunity to try to see the Northern Lights again which we're determined to tick off our bucket list! I've been to Iceland before with a friend but I am also thinking this would be a great place to go back to with Andy.
Fabulous post, I love the idea of a photographic walk, and I agree everything seems more photogenic than usual. I went for an autumn walk on Sunday, and found so many pretty leaves, fallen to the ground. I took lots of photos and collected some leaves for my blog, I couldn’t find any conkers though! I’m not big on Halloween, but like to do baking and give out sweets to trick or treaters. Have an awesome autumn! :-) xx
