Ultimate Color Repair by Paul Mitchell

I was recently asked if I would like to try the Ultimate Color Repair shampoo and conditioner by Paul Mitchell and, as I am already a big fan of this cruelty free and vegan friendly brand, I of course said yes!
I get my hair coloured on a regular basis so I am well aware of how quickly colours can sometimes fade and leave your hair feeling quite dull and faded. The Ultimate Color Repair products claim to keep your hair colour vibrant for up to 9 weeks, prevent thermal damage by 87%, ensure 88% less breakage and 59% more high shine. How you may wonder!? Well, the products from this range use the reparative power of one of my favourite foods of the moment - quinoa. Aside from being nice to eat this grain is rich in amino acids which penetrate the hair and create a protective shield.

Having never tried this selection from the Paul Mitchell range I was excited to see what it could do for my hair and for my recently coloured hair. I decided to start using these products directly after having my hair coloured so that I could experience the best results possible.

When I first started to use this shampoo and conditioner I was really impressed by how so little seemed to go so far. You only have to use a small amount of the shampoo and it foams up really well. I also really liked the light and not too overpowering fragrance which really just reminded me of a moisturiser. After rinsing away the shampoo my hair felt really clean and thicker than it usually does even whilst still wet.

I only ever used both the shampoo and conditioner together in order to get the best results and I would often leave the conditioner on my hair for a good few minutes before rinsing off. This conditioner uses a special blend of shea butter, jojoba  and soya bean oil to soften your hair and enhance it's shine. The conditioner does in my opinion feel a lot weightier than other conditioners I have used recently and I was surprised by how soon I was able to feel the protective coating on my hair. In fact I wasn't sure if it would feel any different at all but it certainly did!

Once I had blow dried my hair I can honestly say that it felt noticeably different. My hair felt soft, thicker than it usually does and a lot of my frizz had been completely tamed down. I have quite fine hair which tends to get greasy quite quickly and I would say that the only downside of these products for me personally was that my hair felt more sleek after using them, which in turn meant that I felt like I had to wash my hair more frequently. I would therefore say that this product would be perfect for anyone with really dry, unruly or frizzy coloured hair.

On the plus side my hair felt super silky soft and smooth and after using for a number of weeks I definitely felt as though my freshly coloured hair lasted longer than it usually would. It also felt in much better condition than it normally does. A surprising result for me was that I kept being asked if I had coloured my hair by friends weeks after my initial colouring which really does go to prove that my hair had locked in some of the original colour!

Have you tried any products from the Ultimate Colour Repair range yet?
