Kew Gardens | Plants

A couple of weeks ago I took my Mum to Kew Gardens for a day out for her birthday. Neither of us had ever been to Kew before (aside from the Christmas Lights show) and I was so looking forward to exploring the gardens in the sunshine and looking at all the plants on display. As my obsession with house plants grows so does my enthusiasm for getting out and about and seeing plant displays, from garden centres to flower markets, and even just other peoples photos on Instagram - I'm hooked!

Also just a little foreword that this blog post is photo heavy as I think the photos really do most of the talking and you can get a really good idea from them alone as to what is on offer at Kew. I will just say that it was an amazing day out and it really exceeded any expectations that I went with. It was also so much bigger than I realised so there was a hell of a lot of walking and we racked up our 10,000 steps in no time!

Palm House

Water Lily House

Princess of Wales Conservatory

Orangery Restaurant

Temperate House

If you've never been to Kew Gardens before and are looking for some inspo for a day out this Summer then I really can't recommend a visit here enough. A real highlight for me was Palm House which just felt like we were transported to a different country as soon as we stepped inside! The heat and steam was a little intense but it was so worth it to see all the huge beautiful plants on display inside. I also really enjoyed the Princess of Wales Conservatory which is basically a cacti lovers dream come true!

My top tips for a day out here would be to allow enough time, because you really could spend all day there, make sure you're wearing comfortable shoes and don't forget your camera. Also the Botanical Restaurant which overlooks the Palm House pond had an incredible looking vegan burger on the menu but sadly we got there too late to try this as lunch is only served until 3pm despite the restaurant being technically open until 6pm (which is what confused us).

Have you been to Kew Gardens before?
