Eco Ibiza

Ever thought of holidaying in Ibiza?

Have you been put off by all of the stereotypical stories of it being a crazy party island!?

Well in fairness there is a lot of crazy partying, but that's probably limited to 20% of the island.
The other side of Ibiza is extremely beautiful, tranquil and spiritual.

I tend to visit Ibiza every year - I have a bit of an addiction to this island and there's something that keeps bringing me back time after time.

Last Summer we decided to try something a bit different and booked ourselves into the organic farm and Eco Agroturismo Can Marti.

Can Marti is situated in the North of Ibiza just outside the quaint village of Sant Joan.
It is in the most picturesque and calm location surrounded by woodland and greenery.

When booking to stay at Can Marti you have the choice of four colourful apartments to choose from, all of which have been built and restored to ecological principles and that compliment their natural environment.

As there were 3 of us staying together we opted for the Olivio apartment which turned out to be an amazing detached stone house, with 2 comfortable bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, bathroom, living/dining room and its own front door and terrace.

We were extremely impressed with the value and quality of this accommodation.
The privacy and seclusion made it feel like our own little home for the week.

The grounds at Can Marti are vast and we enjoyed many strolls around the idyllic countryside.

There is also a bio-pool for guests to take advantage of which is a completely natural swimming pool that relies only on nature to clean, heat and filter it.

Taking in a dip in this pool was a wonderful and refreshing experience which somehow managed to make us feel even closer to the great outdoors.

With sun loungers dotted around the pool this was the perfect place to relax, read and catch some rays in complete uninterrupted peace.

As animal lovers we were so happy to see that Can Marti is also home to some furry friends.

The resident dog Ringo became our companion for the week and he often greeted us as we came home and kindly took it upon himself to check up on us at regular intervals!

Can Marti is also home to donkeys, sheep, chickens, ducks and a few cats!

Can Marti's aim is to be completely self sustaining by only using natural renewable energy sources. They use solar power, grow their own vegetables, treat their waste water to use as fertiliser and the chickens lay eggs.

Can Marti is the perfect base for exploring the quieter side of Ibiza with many beautiful beaches a short drive away. A car is essential for exploring everything that this magical island has to offer, particularly when staying in a rural location like Can Marti.

My top things to see and do in Ibiza:

Eat seasonally and locally at the Giri Cafe

Relax and unwind for the day at Atzaro Spa

Walk to the top of Dalt Vila and take in the view of Ibiza.

Meditate, practice Yoga & heal yourself at the annual Healing Ibiza event.

Visit Benirras Beach on a Sunday evening -
watch all the local hippies gather for the weekly sunset drumming party.

Go shopping at Las Dalias Hippy Market.

Catch the sunset with a cocktail at Cafe Mambo

Dance the night away at the worlds most famous nightclub Pacha
