Brighton 2017

We all know January can be a really gloomy and depressing month and this year was sadly no different for me. I found myself feeling unmotivated, low in mood and generally pretty bluergh. So in a bid to lift me out of my lull my husband and I decided on a spur of the moment trip down to Brighton. It's one of our most favourite places to visit and it's just perfect for a mini get away.

I found a really great Air BnB which was not only in the heart of Kemp Town, an area I really wanted to explore more, it was also dog friendly and a bit swanky. The perfect combination! We made no hesitation in booking a few nights and before we knew it we were on the road looking forward to more adventures in the vegan capital of England!

I'm so glad we booked 4 nights as it really did allow us to settle into Brighton living and enabled us to really relax for a few days. It was also so lovely to be able to have the dogs with us this time and really made it feel like a second home for us. The only downside was that it rained pretty much solidly the whole time we were there, but that didn't stop us getting out and about and trying out some new places to eat.

Here's a concise list of all the amazing vegan food we enjoyed, and tried to enjoy, whilst in Brighton this time around. Some of the places were completely new to us, and some were old favourites, but all were amazing!

I was hoping to order a vegan pizza from here on Saturday night but sadly they only offer vegan friendly pizza options on Monday's & Tuesday's. My husband's vegetarian pizza looked amazing so I can only imagine the vegan pizzas are well worth trying out.

I decided to order a vegan pizza from Purezza on Deliveroo and I knew from the last time we visited that they are a really great option for vegan pizza. This time I went for a mushroom and spinach pizza and added some extra sweetcorn and caramelised onion. It was a really yummy combo! It's so great to be able to get vegan pizza delivered to your door.

We popped into this cafe for breakfast one morning as it was pretty close to our Air BnB and it was good to see that they offered some really good vegetarian options from which I was able to create my own vegan breakfast.

This juice cafe has a wide array of different vegan juices available and is well worth a visit, especially if you're looking to be that little bit healthier whilst in Brighton and boost your immune system. The juices are a bit pricy at £4 a bottle but they are delicious and absolutely packed to the rim with so many vitamins and plant power.

We tried to grab a vegan roast dinner here on Sunday as I had seen a previous review which absolutely raved about them. Sadly for us they were packed full and unable to offer us a table but really we should have booked ahead to secure our spot. The fact that it was so busy is a great indication that the food here is well worth trying. Maybe next time!

This cafe has been on my radar since going vegan but for some reason I have never got around to visiting it until now. They offer a real mix of different vegan food including oriental dishes and burgers and chips. They also had a counter full of delicious looking vegan cakes and cupcakes. Our burgers were seriously good and i'll definitely be paying them a visit again in the future.

A little out of town, Glazed coffee shop offers up some amazingly delicious accidentally vegan donuts and this place is a must visit if you're in Brighton. We grabbed a selection of donuts which included apricot, peanut butter and Biscoff flavours. They're the best vegan donuts i've ever had and I just wish I lived closer to them. They're also available on Deliveroo!

If you're in Brighton and fancy some vegan ice cream then this is the place to go! Or you can even get certain flavours delivered straight to your front door. We fancied a sweet treat one evening and decided to order a tub of their chocolate raspberry ice cream. The fact that you can order vegan ice cream to be delivered to you in Brighton was a huge novelty to us out of towners! We were also loving the convenience of Deliveroo and it was our first ever time using them so we may have gone a little overboard on our orders!

This cafe is a firm favourite of ours when in Brighton and we couldn't wait to get back there for some of their delicious home cooked vegan food. My husband really fancied a burrito one day and luckily for us they were on the menu. The food here never fails to deliver and it's always so flavoursome. These burritos were incredible and really hit the spot! The vegan one also comes with vegan cheese and a side of nachos.

I'd heard about this new Belgium fries shop and couldn't wait to try some out for myself. Anyone who knows me knows that fries/chips are probably my favourite treat food and this proved to be the perfect pit stop for us. We'd been walking around town in the rain all afternoon and these fries were exactly what we needed! I was pretty astounded by the wide array of different dips available and if you decide to eat in they offer you as many as you like to try, including some different vegan friendly varieties.

This place is the least vegan friendly sounding cafe i've been to in Brighton and to be completely honest we only decided to go in for brunch because it was 2 minutes from our Air BnB and it looked cute and cosy. They had some decent vegetarian options on the menu and so again I was able to create my own vegan friendly brunch of crushed avo on toast. They also had soya milk so my husband enjoyed a nice cappuccino along with his veggie brunch.

I really wanted to try this place the last time we were in Brighton but sadly it was closed so it was on my 'must try' list for this visit. We decided to order in from Deliveroo as the cafe itself isn't really very big and there's not much seating inside so we decided it would be more comfortable to enjoy it at home. Sadly this wasn't meant to be yet again as they closed early and couldn't fulfil our order. Hopefully one day i'll get to experience some of their infamous falafel!

When we found out that FilFil had cancelled our order I decided to go back onto the Deliveroo app and found that Shish Kitchen also offered some falafel and mezze type dishes so we placed an order with them instead. The food was really nice but it was quite overpriced for what it was so i'm not sure I would order from them again.

I feel so sad that Happy Maki was closed for refurbishment during our stay as it was one place I had really felt excited about trying out after so many people have been raving about it. This will have to be saved for next time but if you find yourself in Brighton any time soon I would recommend checking it out as the vegan sushi is meant to be incredible!

Despite the weather, this was another fantastic trip to Brighton which, in my opinion, still upholds it's title as the vegan capital of England, and possibly even the whole of the UK. If you haven't visited yet I would really recommend booking a trip for 2017 and experiencing everything this eclectic city has to offer.

We absolutely loved staying in the heart of Kemp Town and it's an area I would really recommend staying in and exploring. It's full of small independent cafes, shops and deli's. It's close enough to be able to walk into the main city centre, but also far enough outside to feel away from all the hustle and bustle. It also has an amazing village like feel to it and everyone is so friendly.

Aside from all the vegan food explorations there are countless other things to do inBrighton too. We really enjoyed mooching around lots of antique shops on this visit and we also made a trip to the quirky little arthouse cinema Dukes at Komedia to see Trainspotting 2.  There is also the seaside and beach of course with all the traditional attractions you would expect to find at a British seaside resort, including the new i360 which we tried out on our last visit. One thing's for sure, you can never be bored in Brighton, even if the weather is a let down.

  2. Thank you for writing this lovely blog. Some favourites of mine to add are: The Hope for vegan junk food (it's incredible) and is in the centre of Brighton, Morelli Zorelli in Hove has two choices of vegan cheese, Dead Wax Social is a bar in the Brighton Lanes that has vegan pizza, the Chilli Pickle has a couple of vegan options in the centre of town and all the curries are delicious, for even more of a treat Root Candi is plant based tapas, The George pub has only veggie and vegan menu and is great for a hearty pub meal, and then yes Earth & Stars which you now have to book in advance (start of the week!) for the Sunday roast!! I hope that helps for your next visit x

  4. I feel so blessed again in my marriage after Doctor Oku brought back my husband that separated with me for good 3 mounths. Am Jessica Butler by name from USA. Even though i have mouths all over my body, it won't be enough to thank Doctor Oku for his help upon my life. My husband separated with me for the 3 months and have been in pains and agony without him. So, i searched for help everywhere but nothing worked out not until i meant Doctor Oku who i contacted online. I explained my situation to him and he promised that my husband will get back to me within 24 to 48 hours as far that my heart still beats for him. I believed in him and he prepared a spell for me and my husband called me exactly when Doctor Oku said. He pleaded and said he needs me back and now we are living happily again for the past 9 months. Everyone out there reading my article that needs help should contact him. Email: okutemple@gmail.com or add him on whasapp +2347053113465
