January Life

HOW I'VE BEEN FEELING

I'm not going to sugar coat anything in this post, January has been tough. It's actually been tougher than I thought it would be. I usually expect to feel more low than usual in the first month of the year because it always without fail feels like a major come down after all the business and excitement of December. I would have hoped to have re-found my mojo by now but I sadly haven't. I've felt pretty flat for the most of January and unable to get back into the swing of my usual routine. My motivation levels have felt really low but I have somehow managed to fight that off by regular trips to the gym. I'm hoping this is just a phase and that soon enough i'll be back to my usual self. We shall see...

WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING

We kicked off this month in style with a New Year stay at Shangri-La at The Shard in London. It's become somewhat of a New Year tradition for us and rather than going all out on NYE I prefer to start January in a happy and enjoyable way.

The real focus of this month has been to get back on track - with life, health, fitness, work... everything! As already mentioned above, it has felt difficult getting back into the swing of everything, or more so with motivation levels, but that being said I have hit the gym regularly which has really helped to fight off the low mood. We've also been trying to eat healthier (like most people!) and generally feel better in ourselves after all the over indulgence at Christmas.

One of my favourite things to do in January, and again it helps with fighting off the low moods, is to plan out what I would like to do and achieve in 2017. A lot of time has been spent this month talking to my husband about where we would like to travel to and the holidays we want to take. We always have an ongoing travel hit list so it was just a case of deciding where was a priority for us and moments of 2016 we really enjoyed that we'd like to repeat again this year. So far we have planned quite a lot and i'm excited to say that 3 major bucket list trips have been booked - Northern Lights hunting in Finland, a Copenhagen mini break and some sun seeking in Santorini! I'm really excited for all of these trips and they can't come soon enough. We're also hoping to plan a few smaller get aways in the UK and explore closer to home.

We have also started to get the ball rolling with moving and arranged for the estate agent to come over to photograph our house. The next stage, which we're not quite ready for just yet, is to put it on the market. This will hopefully happen at the start of March. We still haven't seen or found a house that we absolutely love so there isn't a huge rush but it feels good to be headed in the right direction.

I decided that the time had come this month for a bit of a blog revamp and I am so pleased with the results! I changed up my blog template and also had someone design me a new logo and illustration which incorporates everything The V Nice Life is about.

Last week we made a spur of the moment decision to visit Norwich for a couple of days. We needed to trial run our dogs staying overnight with the dog sitter so thought we would make the most of the opportunity by visiting somewhere new. We booked an amazing little Air BnB close to centre of town and had lots of fun exploring what the city has to offer and of course all the vegan options available! You can read all about our trip here.

As this post goes live we're currently enjoying a few days in Brighton at another Air BnB! The coast was calling us and in a bid to get me out of my January lull we're doing lots of enjoyable things like beach walks with the dogs, taking photos and soaking up everything our favourite place has to offer.

WHAT I'VE BEEN EATING

This month the focus has definitely been healthy eating and trying to break some bad habits. I have also been making an effort to reduce my sugar intake which has been really hard but i'm getting there. We've really been into making up vegan rainbow bowls for dinner most evenings and they have proved to be a real hit in our house. You can read all about my vegan bowls here

It hasn't all been super healthy though and we did squeeze into a visit to one of our favourite local vegan cafes, The Den at 23 in Colchester, and sampled their new burgers which we both agreed were amazing! In fact we can't stop thinking about them and are planning a return visit soon.

WHAT I'VE BEEN BUYING

My spending has been pretty controlled this month, which makes a change! After all of the Christmas spending and shopping I find myself not wanting to go near the shops in the New Year. I can never be bothered to face the sales and I find it's always a strange in-between phase with what's actually in the shops. I usually like to wait until all the Christmas stuff has well and truly vanished from the shelves. That being said I have done a little bit of online shopping including ordering myself a BuddyBox.

I didn't buy it myself but my husband bought me the most amazing gift this month - a brand new bicycle! When it turned up I couldn't believe my eyes, it's completely gorgeous! I've wanted a vintage style bike for quite a while now and had set my heart on a mint green one with a basket. My husband found this Bobbin Brownie online and it's absolutely perfect! I'm looking forward to cycling more this year and especially once the weather is a bit warmer.

The last thing I ever need is more stationery but it's the one thing I always manage to buy. I just couldn't resist this cute notebook and pen from Paperchase! I'm going to use the notebook for all my travel planning this year and can't wait to fill it up with some exciting plans and itineraries.

I fancied buying a couple of new books this month and as a bid to get myself reading more so I decided to go for two mental health related books - A Mindfulness Guide For The Frazzled by Ruby Wax and We're All Mad Here by Claire Eastham. I'll be sure to post up reviews once I have finished them!

With Valentines Day just around the corner I also decided to treat myself to a few bits from Lush's new range. You can watch my Lush Valentines haul video here!

WHAT I'M EXCITED FOR NEXT MONTH

I am so excited for February! Mainly because we are off to Finland in search of the Norther Lights! I tried to see them in Iceland about 8 years ago to no avail so i'm determined to see them on this trip. February is meant to be the best time of year to go so fingers crossed we'll have some luck. I'm really excited to see some proper snow! I'm also pretty happy that it won't be January anymore and hopefully things will start to feel less gloomy and more upbeat.

How was January for you?

  2. Hello, I am Theresa Williams After being in relationship with Anderson for years, he broke up with me, I did everything possible to bring him back but all was in vain, I wanted him back so much because of the love I have for him, I begged him with everything, I made promises but he refused. I explained my problem to my friend and she suggested that I should rather contact a spell caster that could help me cast a spell to bring him back but I am the type that never believed in spell, I had no choice than to try it, I mailed the spell caster, and he told me there was no problem that everything will be okay before three days, that my ex will return to me before three days, he cast the spell and surprisingly in the second day, it was around 4 pm. My ex called me, I was so surprised, I answered the call and all he said was that he was so sorry for everything that happened that he wanted me to return to him, that he loves me so much. I was so happy and went to him that was how we started living together happily again. Since then, I have made promise that anybody I know that have a relationship problem, I would be of help to such person by referring him or her to the only real and powerful spell caster who helped me with my own problem. email: drogunduspellcaster@gmail.com you can email him if you need his assistance in your relationship or any other Case.
