October Life

HOW I'VE BEEN FEELING

I have to say that i've been feeling pretty tired this month probably because it's felt like we've been a bit non stop! October has felt both busy and fun as my diary has been pretty full. I have loved October and the change in the seasons, I just wish that it had been a bit colder! That being said it has still been suitable to wear my wooly hats and to dress for Autumn, although some days this has left me feeling a little hot and bothered at times. I have felt really inspired by the new season and consequently I have loved taking lots of photographs and it's been fun to plan my blog posts and vlogs around an Autumnal and Halloween theme.

WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING

I kicked off this month by attending a blogger event in London held by the camera equipement brand Manfrotto. This was so enjoyable and I am so glad that I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone to attend. My husband and I made a kind of 'date night' out of it and afterwards we hired some Boris Bikes and had a little late night cycle around the South Bank area which was so much fun! I love spontaneous evenings out like this!

It's been great to get outdoors more this month and soak up all of those Autumnal feels! I started to hibernate a little bit towards the end of Summer because I had really had enough the heat and so it has felt like a nice change this month to be going on longer dog walks again and witnessing all the trees turning golden and brown. I've enjoyed collecting up some conkers and leaves to use as props in my photos and also taking lots of Autumn snaps for my Instagram feed.

With slightly colder weather has also come the revival of the bath for me, a lovely and relaxing treat that I really missed during the Summer months. I've really enjoyed using up all of my Lush Halloween treats and it's felt really nice to have some time out for myself again.

Things around here have also been a little pumpkin crazy this month! I really enjoyed going to a local farm where they were growing pumpkins and I also went on a little mission to pick up all different varieties of pumpkins to decorate my house with. And of course we carved a few up just in time for Halloween which was a lot of fun and a little bit competitive at times!

This weekend I also couldn't resist a little visit to RHS Garden Hyde Hall where they had on display the record breaking sized pumpkin home grown in Essex. Their pumpkin patch display was amazing and it was well worth the visit!

It was good to get out and about this month to a couple of vegan events too. There was The Garden of Eden Vegan Fair in Colne Engaine which really was a great way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon and it was nice to see some familiar faces there too. We also went along to the Cambridge Vegan Market which was a really great event and the perfect place to stock up on lots of yummy vegan treats!

We made a slightly life changing decision this month to join a new health club which has just opened up near to where we live. I say this is life changing because I am hoping it will be! We currently do very little in the way of exercise aside from walking so it's probably going to be a shock to our system, but it's one we desperately need. As it's so new we have to wait until November until we can start to use the facilities but I am so excited to get started. It has an indoor and outdoor pool along with a spa, gym and a wide range of fitness classes. I can't wait to get into a new routine and hopefully feel the benefits of regular exercise again.

WHAT I'VE BEEN EATING

On our date night out in London we decided to go for some Turkish food at the Tas restaurant in Waterloo. We really enjoyed the food available at this restaurant as the majority of it was veggie & vegan friendly and I loved ordering lots of small plates and sharing food. It was all so delicious!

On a visit to Cambridge this month we really fancied veggie burgers and french fries so we decided to stop by at Byron Burger to see what it was like. Sadly there wasn't a huge choice for vegans, just the veggie pattie without the brioche bun. It was ok but I don't think i'll be rushing back any time soon!

At the Garden of Eden Vegan Fair we picked up some of V Catering's cheesy nachos which were so yummy!

I managed to get my hands on some of Quorn's new vegan chicken style nuggets this month from ASDA. I was really looking forward to trying them as they looked really appealing in the photos but I really should have guessed that they would be too much like the real thing for me to really enjoy. They were nice but I couldn't get past how much they reminded me of chicken which turned my stomach a bit! I had mine with some chip shop chips which was a great combo.

This month I have really been loving eating porridge again for the first time in ages. I tend to avoid hot and warming foods like porridge and soup in the warmer months so they always feel so nice to enjoy again once the weather gets colder. I love my porridge topped with some coconut sugar!

WHAT I'VE BEEN BUYING

Aside from lots of pumpkins, I feel as though my spending has been more under control this month and I haven't been shopping too much. That being said I did find myself back in Home Sense again buying a few more decorative items for my home including these pretty pumpkins which i've placed next to my fire place.

I also couldn't resist this little guy from The Range....

I picked up a few nice little bits and pieces at the Cambridge Vegan Market too. It was great to see my favourite vegan friendly candle brand Harper's there along with totally new businesses to me like Jo Clark Design who makes the most gorgeous animal themed products like these cat Christmas cards.

WHAT I'M EXCITED FOR NEXT MONTH

As we enter November I all of a sudden I feel like 2016 is very close to being over! I feel as though the next couple of months are probably going to really whizz by so fast especially with all the business that comes with the lead up to Christmas. November is another favourite month of mine so I am definitely looking forward to what the next few weeks has in store, starting with a little mini break to Edinburgh next week! Fireworks Night is also one of my favourite times of the year and I can't wait to see the sky alight with colour again. Aside from that I should imagine i'll be spending some time planning out some Christmas blogs and vlogs, and maybe i'll make a start on some Christmas shopping. I am also contemplating taking part in 'Vlogmas' in December - so let me know if you have any advice as I think I'll need to start preparing for it soon.

How was October for you?
I hope you've all had a great month!
